words of comfort

I remember he said it was his fault for the upsets in Isreal because he led the Isrealites there as Moses. When Mr Heston is awakened from his sleep he will be able to speak to Moses personally and get the sense of all of it. I n the meantime may the God of the Bible through his Son Jesus Christ smile down on his family and give them peace.

Salute to Greatness

Chuck was the greatest leader the NRA has ever had, being the most visible defender of the 2nd Amendment there has ever been in modern times; and for that we are in his debt.

This truly great American, born John Charles Carter in Evanston, Illinois, on October 4, 1924 and passing from the arena of life which he made so much more vivid on the sorrowful evening of April 5, 2008 in a standing unmatched by most will be missed with a passion by myself and so many others.

He changed his first name to reflect his mother's maiden name of Charlton, and changed his last name to reflect his then new stepfather's last name of Heston.

The eyes of this man revealed a scope of genuine empathy up through the biting clarity of truth stripped bare; the cadence and timber of his voice imparted trust and garnered respect. But most of all, it was his mind and soul that gave us these awesome elements of what a man could be and it culminated in an impact that is the apotheosis of 'American' in the clearest terms possible. A true legend of a man; may we honor him in passing, remember him in life, and pray that others of his caliber will be revealed to stimulate us in the future. The phrase 'larger than life' is a mantle this man wore with amazing ease like other greats such as General George S. Patton.

He gave us great joy in the unforgettable films he placed his unique mark in, which included: The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, El Cid, A Man for All Seasons, True Lies, among so many others.

No one has ever approached him to take that rife from his hands, warm in life or cold in death, and it was a stance of righteousness that made it so. Perhaps serving as a Staff Sgt in the USAF helped mold him, but I suspect it was always a part of him. It is no wonder that he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest accolade a US civilian can receive.

After 83 years, 8 months and 2 days of great life, I am so sorry to see you go Mr. Heston, your passing has left a void that will be very hard to fill.

Rest in Peace my friend.
